Vichy Dermablend Make-Up: Review

This year on my blog is going to be all about good skin care and good for skin makeup!

Last year I struggled so much with my skin and I changed every product I used to combat and clear it. I can now say that I am more confident in my skin and it has come along way since then.

To start off the ways I helped my skin I thought I would do a blog post on the makeup I used that was supposedly 'good for skin'. I have been using these products for a few months, using them with different products to see hwo they work with them and how it works on the skin.

Vichy Dermablend Range

Vichy Laboratories is a brand that produces products for sensitive skin, they collaborate with dermatologists and allergy experts to find the best formulas for our skin. The products are hypoallergenic meaning they are unlikely to cause allergic reactions, non-comedogenic meaning they will not clog your pores and they are free from parabens.

Vichy Dermabled 3D Correction Foundation 16HR
The 3D correction foundation was the first foundation I tried, it is oil-free, contains salicylic acid which is used to fight breakouts and has SPF 25. It is a hight overage, matte finish foundation that can be used to minimise the appearance of texture on the skin which I thought would be perfect for my very textured, spot prone skin.

The formula of this foundation is a quite thick, mousy texture. A little bit of foundation goes a long way, it is extremely high coverage and did cover all the 'imperfections' on my skin. One thing I did find was that it was cakey, being such a thick formula it looked very heavy on my face which I feel emphasises my skin more. The finish of the foundation is beautiful, it is matte but not such a heavy matte that I found it to be drying. There are 7 shades of this foundation, I tried 20 Vanilla, which is a good undertone but slightly too dark for me. There is not a wide selection of shades, especially compared to other foundations but I always struggle to find a perfect match. Overall I would give this foundation a 3 out of 5. I do still use this but not as a foundation, I use it to conceal any spots when I do get them.

Vichy Dermablend Fluid Corrective Foundation 16HR
I then thought I would try the fluid corrective foundation which is a 25% pigment, SPF 35, hydrating light fluid texture foundation.

I LOVE this foundation! It is a very liquidy formula so glides effortlessly on the skin and look as 'natural' as a foundation can look. It covered everything on my skin and made it look flawless. One possible downside to this foundation is that it is a natural finish, which personally I like. I have normal/combination skin so I did get slightly oily in my t-zone but I thought the finish gave such a healthy and glowy look. I did set this foundation with powder and it still looked so beautiful on the skin. There are 11 shades of this foundation and I do find that I don't match to one particular shade but I am like that in most foundations. The shade opal has more pink undertones whereas I have yellow undertones, however, the next shade up, 20 Vanilla, is the right undertone but too dark for me. Overall I would give this foundation 5 out of 5. I use this foundation every day without a doubt, I just wish they had a larger shade range!

Vichy Dermablend Make-Up Translucent Setting Powder
The powder is a fine, silky loose setting powder which I found prolongs the wear of my makeup so well. It is a natural matte finish that is non-cakey on the skin and gives such a smooth velvety look.  It is supposed to provide a smudge and water-resistant finish which I did test when I went to centre parks. We went swimming at the end of the day so I decided to put it to the test. I had my head completely underwater and was splashed numerous times but the makeup held up surprisingly well. It was not perfect and had worn off on areas of my face, especially my cheeks and chin but I do think it held on there quite well. I use this powder every single day and would rate it 5 out of 5.

Whilst wearing these products I have found that my acne spots had cleared up. I don't believe that the products cleared up my acne spots but I do believe that using these products helped reduce the number of ingredients that clogged up my skin in the first place. I think the combination of a good makeup and a good skin care routine can really help your skin. By no means do I believe that this will work for everyone, nor am I saying that it means you will never get a spot again, I am just showing you what works for me!

Do you struggle with your skin? What products do you like to use?

Let me know!

    1. It can be so hard! Vichy is sold in boots, superdrug and on feel unique and look fantastic. They do offers quite often, mostly 1/3 off so I would wait to get a good deal if you are looking to try them!
