Happy Valentine's Day

It's that time of the year that seems to divide people in two-Valentine's Day!

Some people love the day, they love to spoil their partners with gifts such as flowers, chocolates and jewellery. I personally have never seen the appeal of Valentine's Day, to me it's just the same as every other day, nothing special. I don't like the idea of my partner having to get gifts to show me their love on this day, I would never want someone to feel obliged to spend money just to conform to the social expectations of this day. If they ever wanted to buy me gifts I would rather it be when they want to and at a time when it feels necessary, not because they feel they have to.

To me Valentine's day always seems like a competition. On social media every picture comparing who got the biggest bunch of flowers, who got the biggest box of chocolates, who got the most gifts and who is 'relationship goals'. I feel that the meaning of Valentine's day is forgotten, which is to spread love. It's not about the gifts and how much you got, it's being surrounded by people you love and showing that you care not only on this day but everyday of the year.

I don't hate valentines day. I love nothing more than to see people happy and spreading love whether it's to partners, family or friends. I hope that everyone has had a love filled day and has told someone today that you care about them.

I had a lovely day starting off with breakfast at Ed's Easy Diner, which was absolutely AMAZING. It was my first time going there but it will definitely not be my last.
I then spent some of the day shopping to buy myself a few treats (you can't celebrate a day of love without some self-loving), then I went to watch John Wick: Chapter 2 (how romantic).

Now I am re-watching all the Marvel films binging on junk food while I wait for our Domino's to arrive and I couldn't ask for anything more.

No matter whether you're single, in a relationship, love or hate Valentine's, I hope you have a lovely day and spread the love!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day? How do you spend the day?
